Tint Film Installation

260604: NOTE: I am placing this at the top because in rare cases it has emerged that the templates we use from our supplier sometimes generate film that is "too big" for the window pane it is cut out for. This happens on certain models and glass, and there is a 2.5-3mm overlap because the supplier has determined that this is necessary to ensure they can guarantee the film will not leave any gaps. The reasoning is that it is better to be able to trim off a millimeter of film rather than having to discard the entire film because it is cut too tight. We have sold a large number of kits and so far only an occasional person has experienced this and has had to trim off a millimeter of the film to achieve a completely perfect result. So it is nothing unusual if certain films are a millimeter too big, it is usually easy to edge-trim away the excess.

The quality of the final result of any solar control film installation comes down to the glass being 100% clean. Clean the glass and remove decals, adhesive residue, dirt, and grease spots, and finally wash with some form of alcohol, preferably several times before applying plenty of installation fluid prior to mounting. The film should be stretched a millimeter when you squeegee the film into place with the included rubber squeegee.

Carry out the installation indoors or in the shade as far as possible.

Tape plastic over the door panel to prevent unnecessary moisture from penetrating into any switches or similar components.

When handling the window film, you should use the included gloves to prevent grease spots. Never touch the side of the film that is to be mounted against the window pane after the protective liner has been removed.

Immediately after the protective liner is removed, the film should be sprayed with installation fluid. The film is then lifted into place against the window without touching the surface that will face the glass. The film is then adjusted with both hands so that the fit matches as closely as possible. Before beginning the work of squeegeeing the film into place with the rubber squeegee, the window film should be sprayed with fluid to minimize the risk of scratches and marks on the film from the squeegee.

See how the installation and handling of the film should be done in the following videos.

After you have installed all the films on your windows, wait 2-3 days before rolling down the windows. The film needs to dry and achieve 100% adhesion to the glass before you start using the window regulators.
